Tests for structural soundness and inspects fittings, feed pumps, safety and check valves, water and pressure gauges, and controls to ensure boilers operate safely and efficiently. Being a Boilermaker reads and uses blueprints to determine locations, positions, or dimensions of parts. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Additionally, Boilermaker typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Boilermaker works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. Boilermaker
Construct, assemble, maintain, and repair stationary steam boilers and boiler house auxiliaries. Align structures or plate sections to assemble boiler frame tanks or vats, following blueprints. Work involves use of hand and power tools, plumb bobs, levels, wedges, dogs, or turnbuckles. Assist in testing assembled vessels. Engages in the direct cleaning of boilers and boiler furnaces. Inspect and repair boiler fittings, such as safety valves, regulators, automatic-control mechanisms, water columns, and auxiliary machines. Qualifications Required for this Position:
