Prepares analysis plans to ensure the best statistical methods are developed and utilized. Being a Biostatistician writes specifications for files, consistency checks, tables, and calculations used to collect and analyzes data from a variety of sources. Interprets analyses and prepares exhibits for reports and presentations. Additionally, Biostatistician interfaces with non technical users to assist with data interpretation and understanding of results. Proficient with statistical computer applications like SAS and R. Typically requires a master's degree. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Biostatistician occasionally directed in several aspects of the work.     The Position
    Positions allocated to this series perform complex mathematical and statistical analysis on public health databases by applying statistical theories and principles to determine cause and effect relationships.
    Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
    This opening is for a Biostatistician 2 within the Division of Health Care Financing and Policy (DHCFP) Dental unit, in Carson City NV. This position will be retained in the Oral Health Program at Nevada Medicaid and is responsible for providing routine and special reports, collecting data, analyzing it to draw conclusions or make predictions. Develop and execute research studies in collaboration with completing data linkages, and statistical methods to complete analyses on related health data and related assigned data. Design studies and collaborate in writing articles to disseminate research findings. Applies mathematics and statistical methods to answer questions and help make data-driven decisions through mathematical analysis. This position requires the demonstrated use of statistical methods and programs. This is a grant funded position with funding set to expire on August 31, 2026.     To Qualify:
    In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
    Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)

    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in statistics, mathematics or closely related field and one year of professional experience conducting statistical analysis including gathering and analyzing data from various sources using computer software; OR one year of experience as a Biostatistician I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.

    Special Requirements

    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.

    A valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment.
