Athletic Trainer treats and prevents athletic injuries by developing therapies to reduce pain and improve mobility under the direction of a physician. Assists in exercise instruction and demonstration, patient evaluation and testing. Being an Athletic Trainer may require state license to practice. Typically requires a bachelor's degree in exercise science, sports science or equivalent. Additionally, Athletic Trainer typically requires certification as a Certified Athletic Trainer. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Athletic Trainer occasionally directed in several aspects of the work.     Responsibilities

    • Manage and provide for care of injuries to affiliated school district student-athletes, including the assessment, management, treatment, rehabilitation and reconditioning, render emergency care, when necessary, and assist in the development of injury prevention programs.
    • Athletic trainers will also be required to assist in the provision of sports medicine care at sponsored outreach sports medicine care at various community events throughout the year, as assigned by the Outreach Sports Medicine Program Director. Such events include (but are not limited to) youth football, youth soccer, cycling and triathlon, high school rodeo, baseball, basketball, track and field, and skiing/snowboarding).
    • Manage and provide for care of injuries to affiliated school district student-athletes, including the assessment, management, treatment, rehabilitation and reconditioning, render emergency care, when necessary, and assist in the development of injury prevention programs.
    • Assist in the provision of sports medicine care at sponsored outreach sports medicine care at various community events throughout the year, as assigned by the Outreach Sports Medicine Program Director.     • Develop and implement injury and illness prevention strategies and programs. Following injury/illness, determine and individual’s readiness to participate in athletics and other extracurricular physical activity. Work with coaches to help design and coordinate injury prevention strenth and agility training program during the off-season. Develop and implement a comprehensive emergency action plan.
    • Coordinate school’s concussion-testing program (baseline and post-concussion). Conducts concussion evaluations and referrals.
    • Maintain accurate records of all injuries sustained by student-athletes during school-sponsored athletic activities.

    Qualifications

    Job Requirements:

    • Bachelors in Athletic Training

    • Current Athletic Trainer licensure with the State of Idaho

    • Current Athletic Trainer licensure with Board of Certification (BOC)

    • Current Basic Life Support certification

    Preferred Job Requirements:

    • Masters degree in Athletic Training
