Associate Bursar jobs in Illinois
Associate Bursar has responsibility of one or several aspects of institutional funds. Oversees the operations of student financial services, billing and receivables, and cashiering functions of the university/college. Being an Associate Bursar ensures compliance with university, state, and federal regulations and standard accounting procedures. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Additionally, Associate Bursar typically reports to Bursar. The Associate Bursar manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. Extensive knowledge of department processes. Duties may include:
- Hiring, scheduling, and supervising Student Accounts staff and student employees.
- Operation and maintenance of the subsidiary general ledger records for the Federal Perkins Loan Program.
- Operation and maintenance of the subsidiary general ledger records for twelve institutional loan funds.
- Processing returned checks and ACH debit payments.
- Responsible for tracking and billing of College Illinois funds to student account receivables.
- Processing and analyzing payment activity and reports received from the State Offset.
- Responding to inquiries from current and former students.
- Making collection calls and sending letters to former students.
Qualified candidates must meet the following qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree with coursework in accounting and business administration.
- Four years of experience in business administration or in the management of a large office staff, two years of which were in an administrative or supervisory capacity.
The Civil Service examination for this classification is a credentials assessment. No participation other than the submission of application materials is required from applicants that qualify to take the exam.
