    K-12 Assistant Athletic Director Job Description

    The K-12 Assistant Athletic Director will assist the Athletic Director and school administrators in managing athletics operations and coordinating K-12 athletics, with specific responsibility for the elementary and middle school program coordination. The K-12 Assistant Athletic Director will also assist the Athletic Director with enforcing all PRA, Metro League, MSAL League, and CHSAA policies and procedures. Priorities for employees at PRA include upholding the school's mission and vision, creating partnerships between parents, students, and staff, and supporting the overall culture & climate at PRA.

    Duties And Responsibilities

    Athletics Operations:

    • Lead the K-12 athletic registration process.
    • Arrange travel, including buses, flights, and other necessary transportation.
    • Verify all event dates, times, sites, etc., with league athletic directors, officials, and coaches.
    • Monitor the coach's compliance with First Aid, CPR/AED, concussion, and other CHSAA requirements.
    • Purchase athletic department supplies, equipment, printing, and other services in compliance with finance procedures.
    • Maintain a record of win/loss and records for all MS & HS athletic teams, and update HS record boards & banners annually.
    • Complete grade checks on all MS & HS student-athletes during the season and notify coaches appropriately.
    • Create, organize orders, and distribute HS athletics annual passes.

    Elementary School Intramurals

    • Communicate with the Erie Parks & Rec Department to implement elementary intramural sports.
    • Recruit and manage volunteer coaches for PRA teams.
    • Act as point of contact for families and players, including regular communications and marketing.
    • Responsible for setting up a practice schedule and coordinating facility space/use with the athletic director.
    • Manage and inventory equipment for elementary sports.

    Middle School Sports

    • Work with the Athletic Director to implement the athletic policies and programs.
    • Enforce all PRA, MSAL League, and CHSAA policies relating to the conduct of athletics and participation in athletics.
    • Responsible for all aspects of MS sports programs.
    • Responsible for home game supervision of all MS contests.
    • Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate MS coaches.
    • Responsible for all athletic communication to MS parents and students via the PRA Athletic website.
    • Supervise and work with the athletic department staff on inventory, manage MS athletic equipment, and collect all uniforms.

    Communications & Events

    • Assist with the K-12 athletics communications and website.
    • At the end of each season, distribute letters, pins, and certificates to coaches for each award recipient.
    • Assist in developing and distributing facility calendars for gyms and fields and process applications for use requests.
    • Assist the Athletic Director with event logistics, including Metro League, cross-country league meets, and summer camps.
    • Manage games by coordinating support for athletes, coaches, officials, and spectators.
    • Prepare GoFan/gate cash handling for home events in compliance with finance procedures.

    Other Duties And Responsibilities

    • Serve as a member of the athletics subcommittee.
    • Assist with activity bus training, including policy and procedure implementation and driver compliance.
    • Ensure that coaches, athletes, and parents understand and follow their respective codes of conduct.
    • Promote high standards of ethics, sportsmanship, and personal conduct throughout PRA.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Education And Related Work Experience

    • A Bachelor's degree is required in education, sports management, athletics, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
    • 3 years of working experience in athletics, recreation, or other related fields.
    • 3 years of coaching experience.
    • 3 years of customer service experience.
    • Event coordination experience preferred.
    • Experience in a school setting is preferred.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills, conflict management skills, problem-solving skills, and demonstrated leadership abilities.
    • Proficient knowledge of CHSAA requirements.
    • Commitment to building a quality, reputable athletic program.

    Skills And Abilities

    • Ability to read, write, and interpret various documents such as rules, policy and expectation, agreements, rubrics, scope and sequence documents, and assessment documents.
    • Ability to speak effectively before groups of staff, students, Board of Directors, Administrators, and parents.
    • Ability to understand and carry out written, oral, or diagram instructions.
    • Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in a variety of situations
    • Strong organizational skills and the ability to coordinate different tasks.
    • Ability to work with limited supervision and to be self-motivated.

    Physical Requirements And Working Conditions

    • The employee must regularly talk, walk, stand, and hear.
    • The employee is frequently required to sit and reach with hands and arms.
    • The employee must occasionally lift and move up to 25 pounds.
    • The specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
    • The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, grasp, and perform light lifting.

    • Work is occasionally performed outside, exposed to extreme temperatures and loud noises.
    • Work hours may occasionally be extended.

    Reporting Relationship

    • This position reports to the K-12 Athletic Director.
    • Direct Reports: none.

    • Paid Holidays include 11 paid holidays for 10-month Employees (refer to the Employee Handbook for the 11 days) and 15 paid Holidays for 12-month Employees (refer to the Employee Handbook for these 15 days).

    Salary

    This positions hiring range is between $63,742 to $71,710
