Job Description
Provides activities that meet residents’ needs.
• Assists in developing plans for programming that meets residents’ needs. Assists in evaluating effectiveness of programming. Assists with conducting programming within and outside the center. • Assures community involvement in center/campus and works with volunteers. • Keeps activity area free of hazards. Keeps potentially harmful substances in locked storage and discards properly. Follows appropriate and adequate safety measures while on outings. Assures residents are supervised at all times while in planned groups/outings, etc. • Properly stores food items, with labels and dates placed on all items and containers. Properly cleans/sanitizes supplies/equipment according to set schedule. Follows proper guidelines/policies regarding pets/animals.
Qualifications
Prior work experience in long term care is preferred; other pertinent experience includes working in any confined environment-hospitals, prison, school, hospice, day care, group home, residential care center/campus, psychiatric setting. Completion of an activity training program or ability to complete such program approved by the center/campus and the state in which the center/campus is located is necessary.
Ability and desire to be creative in adapting programs and supplies to meet individual resident needs.
