The Activities Aide is responsible for facilitating a supportive, social atmosphere that promotes a sense of well- being, dignity and purposefulness for the residents in their care.
Recreation staff are expected to lead planned and spontaneous, group and individual recreation activities / programs as assigned by Activities Director.
Recreation staff will follow all department / facility policies and procedures to assure that the spiritual, emotional and social needs of all residents are met and maintained.
High School Education Diploma or GED required.
At least one years experience in an Activities Department in the health care field preferred, or equivalent.
Either volunteer or paid experience with geriatric / frail elderly preferred.
Instructs / Leads a wide variety of recreational activities / programs including but not limited to music, arts, crafts, discussion, parties, social group, trips, special events and entertainment, active and passive games, sensory type activities, seasonal activities, movies, bingo, etc.
Prepares and operates any equipment essential to recreational activities such as DVD players, electronic music equipment, microphones, speakers, tablets, I pads, etc.
Stores and properly maintains all recreational equipment and supplies.
Participates in appropriate staff meetings as directed.
Documents in resident care plans, progress notes, initial / annual assessments, and MDS assessments, attendance records as required by facility and departmental guidelines.
Prepares and serves refreshments as needed at activities within facility and department guidelines.
Maintain confidentiality of all pertinent Resident care information according to HIPPA regulations to assure Resident rights are protected.
