The minimum base salary for this position is $41,600 and the maximum is $45,760 plus additional annual profit sharing bonus potential. Salary may vary based on education, knowledge and experience.

Job Description:

The successful candidate will understand and be able to apply basic accounting principles relating to Accounts Payable. The Accounting Specialist will work individually and with our Accounting team, support staff, project managers, scientists and biometricians.

Responsibilities include:

• Receiving, processing, and verification of vendor and subcontractor invoices.
• Reconciling vendor statements, maintaining vendor accounts, and following up to resolve discrepancies.
• Generating payments to vendors by following established disbursement processing procedures.
• Maintaining historical electronic records of all invoices, payments, and reports.
• Preparing and sending 1099’s at year end.
• Regularly collaborating/communicating with the Purchasing and Inventory team.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

The Accounting Specialist we are seeking has a great opportunity to help WEST take the next step in our growth as a premier environmental consulting firm. The successful candidate must be a self-starter who possesses:

• Minimum of an Associate’s degree in Accounting/Business or the equivalent work experience,
• At least one (1) year of work experience in an accounts payable function, preferably in a fast paced environment,
• Knowledge of accounting principles and practices,
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills,
• Effective oral and written communication skills,
• Sound computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft office and/or Google,
• Highly collaborative work ethic with a track record of maintaining positive relationships with coworkers, vendors, and stakeholders,
• Experience working with Deltek Vision or VantagePoint is a plus,
• Ability to perform repetitive tasks accurately while meeting deadlines,
• Ability to appear for work on time, sit for long periods of time, follow instructions from managers and accept guidance and constructive criticism.

After an offer of employment is made, the candidate must successfully pass a pre- employment background check, drug screening, and a DMV records check that meets WEST’s minimum criteria to operate a motor vehicle on behalf of the company. A valid driver’s license will be required.
