Interviews patients, measures vital signs (i.e., pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height), and records or inputs information to patients' medical records. Being a Medical Assistant - Non-Certified prepares treatment rooms for the examination of patients. May draw and collect blood samples from patients and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis. Additionally, Medical Assistant - Non-Certified may perform administrative duties such as ordering supplies, answering the phone, and scheduling appointments. Requires a high school diploma. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Medical Assistant - Non-Certified works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. May require 0-1 year of general work experience.
