Requirements and Responsibilities

Head Golf Professional is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the golf course, including shop management, instruction, and member relations. Manages inventory of merchandise in the pro shop and the outside service equipment Plans, promotes, and directs all golf activities. Being a Head Golf Professional ensures a smooth and enjoyable golfing experience for all members and guests. May require a bachelor's degree. Additionally, Head Golf Professional typically requires an active Professional Golfers' Association (PGA) membership. Typically reports to a golf course general manager. The Head Golf Professional manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Head Golf Professional typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1-3 years supervisory experience may be required. Extensive knowledge of the function and department processes.
