The Wilson Housing Authority is opening the waiting list for its Housing Choice Voucher program and will be accepting pre-applications for the program from Monday Feb. 8, 2021, through Wednesday Feb. 24, 2021. Pre-applications will be made available at a drop box located outside of the housing authoritys administrative office at 301 Nash Street E, and will also be available on its website, www.wilsonha.org , and through several of its housing partners. Once completed, the pre-application can be returned by dropping it off at a pre-application drop box that will be located outside of our Nash Street office, mailed, emailed or faxed. The housing authoritys mailing address is 301 Nash Street E, Wilson, NC, 27893. The email address to return the pre-application to is WHAapp2021@gmail.com and the fax number is 252-291-0984. All mailed applications must be postmarked by Feb. 24. Because the housing authority is expecting more than 1,000 pre-applications, only fully completed pre-applications that arrive on time will be entered into the lottery. Every pre-application that we receive from Feb 8-24 will be placed onto a spreadsheet and random numbers will be drawn to determine its final order on the list. The housing authority will select the top 250 pre-applications from this final list to send more extensive application packets to. All of the pre-applications selected will be notified by March 31, 2021 that they have been chosen to move on to the application stage of the voucher process. Following the end of the pre-application period on Feb. 24, the housing choice voucher waiting list will be closed again.
