Description The University of Iowa Health Care department of Safety and Security is seeking a Hospital Security Officer to perform duties needed to maintain a safe and secure environment in the Emergency Department for patients, visitors, and staff at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics (UIHC). Officers considered for this position will be exclusively staffed in the Emergency Department at UIHC. Provide exceptional customer service to patients, visitors, and staff entering the hospital Emergency Department Screen patients and visitors entering Emergency Department using appropriate technology and procedures Coordinate lock down procedures Assist medical staff with patients and families in crisis Assist with wayfinding and information to patients, visitors, and staff Perform security checks, patrol facility, and monitor special assignments Collaborate with the medical care team in providing a safe and secure environment for patients, staff, and visitors Act as a liaison to UIPD

This position expects the surgical technologist to be an integral part of the team of medical practitioners providing surgical care to patients. Surgical technologists work under the supervision and delegatory authority of a surgeon to facilitate the safe and effective conduct of invasive and non-invasive surgical procedures, ensuring that the operating room environment is safe, that equipment functions properly, and that the operative procedure is conducted under conditions that maximize patient safety. Surgical technologists are experts in the theory and application of the principles of asepsis and sterile technique to combine the knowledge of human anatomy, surgical procedures, and implementation and tools and technologies to facilitate a physician's performance of invasive therapeutic and diagnostic procedures.
