An electric cooperative is a non-profit corporation that is jointly owned by all of its members; it charges only as much as necessary to cover its operation cost. Other than that, your cooperative is much like any other business - providing an important product and the services to support it. SLECA is governed by a nine-member board of directors. Directors are members, not employees, of the cooperative and are elected by you for 3 year terms at meetings held in each district.
