With it's experience gained since it's founding in 1956, AutoAir is the principal provider of test nacelle equipment to the world market. AutoAir also manufactures gas turbine components and repairs engine components under license from the FAA, JAA, and CAAC. ISO 9001 and AS9000 approvals were obtained in 1998. The test nacelle equipment consists of bifurcated duct set and bellmouth designed to simulate installed aircraft engine performance in the customer's test cell. Construction is rugged to endure enclosed test cell environment and to resist handling and chemical change. The bifurcated duct aerodynamically simulates the flight fan reverser. Interfaces and hinge location are the same as those on the flight reverser. Bellmouths are designed to ensure a smooth flow of air into the engine. They are not direct copies of the flight inlet but are designed to meet airflow requirements of an engine running at all thrust rating while stationary. Provision for engine performance measurement is built into the equipment to enable aerodynamic data to be collected. Both development and production pass off equipment configuration can be provided. Boattail, primary exhaust nozzle , plug (tail cone) and handling dollies can also be provided as required. AutoAir will send their installation engineer and technicians to the test cell facility site to install and commission the equipment. A production schedule will be provided to you on the progress of the equipment being manufactured throughout the lead time of processing. We will keep you adequately informed of all activities involved in this project on a regular basis. After the equipment has been installed for one year, AutoAir will visit the facility to ensure satisfaction and that the equipment continues to meet the design specifications. AutoAir, Inc. will warrant this equipment for three year following the date of installation or the first two hundred engine test runs. This warranty will be based upon whichever of the previous item(s) is the first milestone to be reached.

What Skills Does a person Need at Pratt & Whitney Autoair Inc?

At Pratt & Whitney Autoair Inc, specify the abilities and skills that a person needs in order to carry out the specified job duties. Each competency has five to ten behavioral assertions that can be observed, each with a corresponding performance level (from one to five) that is required for a particular job.

  1. Lean: Lean manufacturing, or lean production, is a system of techniques and activities for running a manufacturing or service operation.
  2. Manufacturing Engineering: Manufacturing Engineering is a branch of professional engineering that shares many common concepts and ideas with other fields of engineering such as mechanical, electrical and industrial engineering. Manufacturing engineering requires the ability to plan the practices of manufacturing; to research and to develop tools, processes, machines and equipment; and to integrate the facilities and systems for producing quality products with the optimum expenditure of capital. The manufacturing or production engineer's primary focus is to turn raw material into an updated or new product in the most effective, efficient & economic way possible.
  3. Leadership: Knowledge of and ability to employ effective strategies that motivate and guide other members within our business to achieve optimum results.
  4. Continuous Improvement: A continual improvement process, also often called a continuous improvement process (abbreviated as CIP or CI), is an ongoing effort to improve products, services, or processes. These efforts can seek "incremental" improvement over time or "breakthrough" improvement all at once. Delivery (customer valued) processes are constantly evaluated and improved in the light of their efficiency, effectiveness and flexibility. Some see CIPs as a meta-process for most management systems (such as business process management, quality management, project management, and program management). W. Edwards Deming, a pioneer of the field, saw it as part of the 'system' whereby feedback from the process and customer were evaluated against organisational goals. The fact that it can be called a management process does not mean that it needs to be executed by 'management'; but rather merely that it makes decisions about the implementation of the delivery process and the design of the delivery process itself.
  5. Problem Solving: Analyzing and identifying the root cause of problems and applying critical thinking skills to solve problems.
