As you may know, the Chancellor has passed a new regulation on military recruitment in schools. ( A-825 ) Despite the fact that many of the items in this regulation have been DoE policy for a number of years, there has been much confusion and misinformation, making implementation difficult and inconsistent. Codifying these policies into a single regulation should help to clarify schools rights and responsibilities in regards to military recruitment. This web site is designed to provide information and tools to make it easier for schools to implement this regulation. One of the requirements of the regulation is that each school develop a plan for how the regulation will be implemented. This plan is to be included in the School & Youth Development Consolidated Plan. There is considerable latitude, both in the regulation and in the section of the NCLB, (which contains the requirements which prompted the need for this regulation in the first place) as to how schools can shape their plan. Yet school staff may not have the time or resources to do in depth research on the actual parameters of the regulation. So we have developed a template to make it easier for schools to develop a plan which both meets the requirements of this regulation and the needs of their individual schools. It includes options which range from the minimum a school must do to be in compliance with the regulation to the strictest interpretation which allows schools the greatest control over recruitment activities on their campuses. You can mix and match as is most appropriate to the needs of your school community. The regulation requires that each principal designate a point person to ensure that this plan is being carried out, to answer any questions about recruitment in the school and to report and follow up on any problems or incidents involving recruiters or the implementation of the schools plan. FAQs and useful resources that will make it easier for the point person to carry out these tasks are available here . In addition, the regulation ...

  1. child development: Child development refers to the sequence of physical, language, thought and emotional changes that occur in a child from birth to the beginning of adulthood.
  2. Child Care: Child care, otherwise known as day care, is the care and supervision of a child or multiple children at a time, whose ages range from six weeks to thirteen years. Child care is the action or skill of looking after children by a day-care center, nannies, babysitter, teachers or other providers. Child care is a broad topic that covers a wide spectrum of professionals, institutions, contexts, activities, and social and cultural conventions. Early child care is an equally important and often overlooked component of child development. Child care providers can be children's first teachers, and therefore play an integral role in systems of early childhood education. Quality care from a young age can have a substantial impact on the future successes of children. The main focus of childcare is on the development of the child, whether that be mental, social, or psychological. In most cases children are taken care of by their parents, legal guardians, or siblings. In some cases, it is also seen that children care for other children. This informal care includes verbal direction and other explicit training regarding the child's behavior, and is often as simple as "keeping an eye out" for younger siblings. Care facilitated by similar-aged children covers a variety of developmental and psychological effects in both caregivers and charge. This is due to their mental development being in a particular case of not being able to progress as it should be at their age. This care giving role may also be taken on by the child's extended family. Another form of childcare that is on the rise in contrast to familial caregiving is that of center-based child care. In lieu of familial care giving, these responsibilities may be given to paid caretakers, orphanages or foster homes to provide care, housing, and schooling.
  3. Early Childhood Education: Early childhood education, also known as nursery education, is a branch of education theory that relates to the teaching of children from birth up to the age of eight.
  4. CPR: Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) combines rescue breathing (mouth-to-mouth) and chest compressions to temporarily pump enough blood to the brain until specialized treatment is available.
  5. Professional development: Professional development refers to continuing education and career training after a person has entered the workforce in order to help them develop new skills, stay up-to-date on current trends, and advance their career.
