Norfolk Christian Schools was founded in 1952 as a non-denominational Christian day school by Pastor John Dunlap. Pastor Dunlap's vision was to establish a school for Christian young people that would complement the biblical values of their families and serve as an extension of their homes and churches. Under the strong guidance of Dr. Gene Garrick, the school's first headmaster, NCS prospered as an outstanding Christ-centered program. Today NCS remains a landmark institution with a growing international reputation for providing a premier education with a biblical worldview. In 1997 Norfolk Christian Schools launched a long-term expansion effort to stay ahead of the growth curve, which included an ambitious plan to renew and expand all permanent facilities. Since 1999 construction has been completed on a new: gym with athletic facilities, middle school wing, lower school, state-of-the-art upper school academic wing and library, and student dining facility. God has proven Himself faithful time and again as He continues to provide for NCS through the generous gifts of parents, grandparents, friends and donors. From humble beginnings more than 54 years ago, NCS now serves more than 800 students and their families in the Greater Hampton Roads area with three campuses - an upper and lower school in Norfolk, and a second lower school campus located in Virginia Beach. Our mission at NSC is three-fold. We aim to equip students spiritually, intellectually and physically to love God and serve Him as Christ's ambassadors in the world. The mission is supported through the core values of relationship, leadership, truth, worship, stewardship, ambassadorship and partnership. Training our students to integrate these values into daily activities creates an atmosphere centered on knowing Christ and making Him known to the world.
