Domestic Violence effects thousands of women every year who find their selves homeless and without a safe haven to rebuild their lives. Homelessness is one of the greatest social ills of our day. Each day a person finds their selves without the resources to provide the basic needs for a life of dignity On a cold and rainy day in the month of November, 2007, Carol Jamison was out running errands when she draove past the Womens Shelter in down town Charlotte .while driving past the shelter she observed a young woman sitting on the side of the curb clutching three small children. Alarmed by the site of this young mother, Ms. Jamison pulled over, exited her vehicle and the young mother why was she sitting on the curb in the cold and rain with her children crying. The young mother explained that her kids father was beating on her and that she was in fear of her safety and the safety of her children so she left but really had no place to go, so she came to the Womens Shelter but they said that they were all full and didn't have any more beds and she dosen't have any place to go. Moved with empathy and compassion; having also been a victim of domestic abuse in her former marriage she took the young mother and her three children to her home, fed them, and gave them warm clothing and a place to sleep. The young mother stayed with Ms. Jamison six months; within that time she found employment saved her money and secured housing for her and her three small children. For the next few years; Ms. jamison realizeing that there were other young women facing similar circumstances began taking other young women in her home who were dealing with domestic violence or who had found their selves without adequate shelter and extended the love and care of a person who cared about the well being of others. with the kind support of other community members, she was able to open two more houses to help as many as she could. she named her homes " New Beginning Mission" to emphasize that no matter what trial or tribualtions one encounters ...
