Independent Physicians Network, Inc. (IPN) is a Physician managed and controlled medical delivery network established in 1984. There are over 900 member physicians in the network who utilize all hospitals in the Milwaukee and surrounding areas. IPN also offers patient access to many free standing centers such as imaging, laboratory and therapy sites. Member physicians currently provide medical services to over 75,000 Commercial, Medicaid and Medicare enrollees through its ACO and contracted health plans. IPN takes pride in its medical management services and its ability to arrange for the provision of quality, cost effective care for its enrollees. The Network successfully manages millions of dollars in medical services annually. Credentialing of physicians for membership in the Network exceeds NCQA standards. To assure quality, review utilization and assist providers in managing care, member physicians are contacted on a regular basis via newsletters, telephone calls, office visits and reorientation meetings. Unlike most Independent Physician Associations, IPN member physicians manage all medical care for their patients, not just physician and outpatient services. Patients benefit from this arrangement because their physician follows them through all areas of their medical care and assists them in making their medical decisions. Physicians benefit because they have the reward of improving the health of the patients through preventive services and for providing quality, cost effective medical care. IPN is a not for profit corporation and is fully managed and controlled by member physicians. The administrative staff consists of talented, experienced professionals whose medical and business backgrounds provide for an effective managed care business. An active Board of Directors combined with the support of subcommittees and a dedicated administrative staff attribute to the strength and success of IPN.
