Close to twenty masters degree candidates have thus far taken part in this groundbreaking program. The Francis W. Parker Regional Teacher Center creates regular opportunities for professional collaboration with public and private schools in this region and beyond. Parker's Math-Science-Technology domain continues to create alliances with other educators as a member of the Systemic Initiative for Math and Science Education. This project, sponsored by the Center for Collaborative Education in Boston, brings together ten secondary schools in the region that have demonstrated a commitment to curriculum integration and are eager to explore further integration opportunities over a five-year period of structured collaboration. Parker Arts and Humanities teachers Jed Lippard, Matthew Smith, and Jim Nehring completed National Board of Professional Teaching Standards certification requirements in spring 2000, and currently await notification from NBPTS. Parker librarian Laurie Nehring was recognized by the United States Environmental Protection Agency as an outstanding activist for environmental affairs. She attended the national conference and training as the Massachusetts delegate this spring.
