Eagon & Associates, Inc. was founded by Herbert B. Eagon, Jr. in 1976. Herb initially developed his extensive knowledge of groundwater resources in Ohio through his experience with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources. In 1987, the Company acquired the files of Fred H. Klaer, Jr. and Associates, a groundwater consulting firm dating back to the 1950s. That same year Allan Razem joined the company adding considerable expertise from his experience as a hydrogeologist with the United States Geological Survey and Battelle Memorial Institute. Our staff consists of 28 hydrogeologists/scientists and support personnel. The senior professionals are intimately involved in project work and maintain quality control and familiarity with technical details. The majority of our work is in the Midwest Region with emphasis in Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, and adjoining areas of Michigan, West Virginia, and Illinois. Our expertise includes water supply, solid waste, hazardous waste, construction and quarry dewatering, and source water protection in these states. The Company's early work focused on evaluation and development of water supply wells for municipalities, industry, and several large hydrocarbon contamination and recovery projects. Site characterization for permitting of solid-waste landfills soon became another service offered to clients. As the company evolved and our reputation grew, we acquired more work from the waste industry that has included permitting, groundwater monitoring, statistical analysis, and compliance reporting. In addition, engineering firms regularly request our expertise related to projects requiring large-scale dewatering such as tunnels and open-cut excavations for trunk sewers. Construction dewatering projects also include hydrogeologic characterization for the aggregate industry where open-pit mining requires dewatering analyses.
