Since it first opened in 1957, Camp Hanover has provided a place apart for the children, youth, and adults of the Presbytery of the James (and its predecessor, Hanover Presbytery). It has offered a summer camp experience to young people and hosted retreats, conferences, and meetings for the congregations of Central Virginia, and other local organizations. In 2004: 1015 children and youth ages 6-17 attended summer camp The Traveling Day Camp, in its seventh year, involved ten Presbytery churches 115 groups used the three lodges and winterized sleeping facilities at the camp Camp Hanover hosted Older Adult Days, Winter Camp, and spiritual retreats during Advent and Lent Join Us in Prayer: At the October 2005 meeting of the Presbytery of the James, decisions will be made regarding Camp Hanover's vision for future ministry.
