General Description :
The Fine Arts Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the fine arts programs of Sheridan Hills Christian School providing leadership, vision, teaching skills, and technical directing.
The Fine Arts Coordinator reports to the Upper, Lower, and Preschool Principals and the Headmaster.

Professional Qualifications :
- The Fine Arts Coordinator must possess a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Theater, Drama, Communications, Education, Literature, or a related field and / or a minimum of three (3) years of experience in a related field.
- The candidate should possess a strong knowledge of music, theater / drama, and related subjects.
Responsibilities :
The Fine Arts Coordinator role is comprised of four major areas : oversight of all fine arts programs at SHCS, direct major productions, class instruction, and chapel organization.
Oversight of all Fine Arts Programs
The Fine Arts coordinator provides leadership for all fine arts at SHCS.
- Provide overall vision for the fine arts at SHCS.
- Plans the annual productions including a fall Lower School play and a spring Upper School play in collaboration with the Headmaster who has final approval of theater production choices.
- Organizes fine arts events including facility requests, coordination with principals and teachers, and related paperwork.
- Create marketing material for productions.
- Manages, inventories, and sees to the proper safe storage of props, costumes, and other theater related items.
- Serve as Department Chair of the fine arts teachers (music / choir, art, drama).
- Oversee the budget for each production in cooperation with the SHCS finance department.
Direct Major Productions
- Serve as Director of the spring Upper School production each year providing overall leadership and technical instruction.
- Direct or oversee the director of the fall Lower School production.
- Coordinate and lead support staff for productions including backstage, media, sound and lighting personal, and volunteers.
- Hold auditions for each production.
- Create a relevant, appropriate, and attractive set and costumes for each production.
- Ensure immediate and proper clean up after productions.
Class Instruction
- Instruct classes, preferably although not exclusively fine arts related, as directed by the Principals.
- Perform the duties of a SHCS teachers as outlined in the staff handbook including the completion of lesson plans and the proper implementation of school discipline.
- Provide emergency coverage for other teachers when necessary.
Chapel Organization
- Provide overall leadership and direct instruction as necessary for all major Preschool Chapels (Thanksgiving, Christmas, Resurrection Day) including song selection, order of service, and themes.
- Lead worship and / or train worship leaders for weekly Preschool, Lower School, and Upper School Chapels.
- Assist with graduation and promotion ceremonies as needed by the principals.
