The South Dakota State University Department of Biology and Microbiology is offering an exciting career opportunity as Department Head. This is a 12-month, full-time, tenure-track, benefits-earning administrative appointment that carries an academic rank of Associate Professor or Professor. This leadership position serves as the executive officer of the department and reports directly to the Dean of the College of Natural Sciences. The Department Head must lead the department to develop and maintain strong, relevant research, teaching, and outreach programs. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Ph.D. degree in relevant disciplineEvidence of effective leadership and administrative skills including management of budget and personnelEffective interpersonal relations, professionalism, and motivational skillsEffective verbal and written communication skillsMeets the standards for tenure and rank in the department. Standards documents are available upon request to the search committee chair.Understanding of the land-grant missionMust be authorized to work in the United States.
