Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and skilled Assembly Technician to join our team in the manufacturing of laboratory products for Scientific Industries. The successful candidate will be responsible for assembling, testing, and ensuring the quality of laboratory equipment and instruments, with an emphasis on precision, accuracy, and compliance with safety standards. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical assembly skills however all necessary training will be provided.
Key Responsibilities:
Assembly & Manufacturing:
- Assemble and configure laboratory products, including but not limited to laboratory instruments/ equipment.
- Follow engineering drawings, work instructions, and assembly manuals to assemble products correctly and efficiently.
- Utilize a variety of hand tools,some power tools, and assembly equipment to complete tasks.
- Inspect components and parts to ensure proper assembly, alignment, and functionality.
Testing & Quality Control:
- Conduct thorough testing of assembled products to ensure they meet performance specifications and safety standards.
- Perform visual and functional inspections of finished products, identifying any defects or discrepancies.
Collaboration & Communication:
- Work closely with Managers and supervisors to ensure timely assembly and production goals are met.
- Report any assembly issues, product defects, or production delays to the appropriate team members.
Maintenance & Safety:
- Ensure all equipment and tools used in the assembly process are maintained and in good working condition.
- Adhere to safety protocols, wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and following all safety guidelines.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment to ensure a safe and efficient workspace.
Documentation & Record-Keeping:
- Maintain accurate records of assembly, testing, and inspection activities.
- Complete and submit production reports, identifying key metrics such as assembly time, quality control checks, and any defects or issues.
Continuous Improvement:
- Suggest improvements to the assembly process, aiming to increase efficiency and reduce production costs.
- Participate in training sessions to improve technical skills and knowledge of laboratory products.
Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent;
- Technical certification or vocational training in electronics, mechanical systems, or related field is preferred but not required
Experience:
- Experience with mechanical assembly, electrical components, or precision instruments is a plus, however all necessary training will be provided
Technical Skills:
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and work instructions.
- Familiarity with laboratory equipment and scientific instruments is a plus.
- Proficient in using hand tools, power tools.
- Basic knowledge of troubleshooting techniques and the ability to perform diagnostics on assembled products.
Soft Skills:
- Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity.
- Good problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
- Ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to [50] pounds and perform repetitive tasks.
- Stand or sit for extended periods, depending on the assembly station.
