Test Engineer

As a Test Engineer in the Product Evaluation group at the Emerson Innovation Center in Marshalltown, IA, you'll have the opportunity to use mechanical, technical, and leadership skills in a collaborative team environment to support new product development. As a Test Engineer You Will

• Develop expertise in control valve and instrument test methods
• Provide technical feedback and direction to the design and evaluation of new product concepts, including conceptualization, design review, and testing of complex products
• Develop and execute test plans in cooperation with internal design teams and/or external customers
• Use software such as LabVIEW, FlexLogger, DIAdem, and MATLAB to gather and evaluate experimental data
• Prepare engineering reports, including analysis, conclusions, and recommendations
• Design, construct, and operate sophisticated test equipment
• Implement efficiency/continuous improvement projects
• Collaborate with other test engineers and technicians in an agile scheduling environment to efficiently complete projects
• Work with Simulations, Marketing, Design, Manufacturing, Sales, and Procurement groups as part of a multi-functional team

For This Role You Will Need

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, or related field
• Ability to apply fundamental knowledge of mathematics and physical sciences to real-world applications supporting the development of products, test equipment, test procedures, and measurement techniques
• Proven mechanical proficiency with hands-on mechanical experience
• Working knowledge of basic control theory, measurement theory, and material fabrication techniques
• Ability to manage different projects of varying length and complexity
• Demonstrated technical communication skills, both written and verbal
  
  
  

Preferred Qualifications That Set You Apart

• Previous exposure to testing or new product development
• Previous experience with data acquisition/analysis software such as LabVIEW or MATLAB is preferred
