Overview
The Inventory and Purchasing Assistant position is responsible for the inventory, supply chain, and warehousing operations of Nasonville Dairy and related entities. Key duties to include supply purchasing, production tracking, purchase entry into the system for supply purchases and cheese production. The Inventory and Purchasing Assistant is responsible for providing guidance to the warehouse staff, assisting with warehouse cleanliness, and warehouse organization for supplies. Also responsible for periodic physical inventory test counts of ingredient, packaging, and finished good inventory, including year-end physical inventory. The Inventory and Purchasing Assistant will also work closely with the Controller to identify opportunities for cost savings, efficiency gains. Additional computer and accounting related duties as needed including payables, invoicing, inventory tracking, and data entry.
Responsibilities
- Purchasing of cheese making supplies including ingredients and packaging
- Recording receipt of purchase of supplies into the accounting system
- Tracking and recording ingredient usage and supply usage for finished product inventory within the accounting system.
- Monitor inventory levels to prevent shortages and excess
- Prepare reports on inventory operations, stock levels, and adjustments
- Conduct periodic physical inventory test counts along with year-end physical inventory
- Identify cost saving opportunities for ingredient and supply purchasing
- Ensure cleanliness and organization of warehouse
- Work closely with the Controller on business improvement opportunities and special projects
- Assist with product labeling and tracking software, including label creation
- Accounting related duties as needed
Experience
- Prior experience in materials management or inventory control is preferred
- Ability to procure, source, negotiate, and sell products effectively
- Experience with forklift handling and safety
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.15 - $18.97 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 45 per week
