Play a critical role in helping others as part of the Prevention, Know the Truth Program.

The role of the Know the Truth, Youth Peer Support Specialist is to enhance the overall credibility of the Know the Truth Prevention Program by; facilitating Youth Peer Recovery Support Groups, classroom presentations, and supporting strategies to bring up to date education, resources and support to students and families.

Key Responsibilities:

 Facilitate multiple weekly group sessions to students who are; exploring sobriety, impacted by substance use, and have been cited for chemical use.

  • Participate and facilitate in classroom presentations, and provide coaching and support for the Youth Prevention Advocates.
  • Maintain confidentiality of records related to student involvement in the support groups.
  • Maintains accurate records of individuals’ behaviors in various aspects of program activities, symptoms, and progress through routine observations and documentation.
  • Comply with school policies and KTT Mandated Reporting.
  • Maintain and strive for positive, professional relationships with students, school staff, and other professionals.
  • Provide school with frequent support group updates and impact reports.
  • Suggest ongoing refinement to the Youth Peer Support group curriculum.
  • Maintain a framework for providing parent and students with accurate resources.
  • Conduct research, provide statistics, and offer student insight and community resources for KTT community training efforts. Work closely with the Program Education Manager when building training approaches to ensure relatability and effectiveness of professional education.
  • Provide support and training and support to new team members.
  • Representation of the KTT Prevention Program with the utmost professionalism.

 

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Peer Recovery Support Specialist Certification, or ability to acquire
  • Certified Prevention Professional Licensure, or ability to acquire
  • Professional speaking ability or experience required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, relationship management and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to make effective, sound, timely, and informed decisions independently.
  • Self-starter able to work independently.
  • Ability to model appropriate boundaries.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite programs, Word, Excel, Power Point.
  • Ability to work remote and experience using virtual platforms.

  • Possession of a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record that will be accepted by this organization’s vehicle insurance carrier.

Compensation range: $35 to $40,000
