Project Manager, Internal Communications Annual Salary Range: $73,611.20 - $87,713.60Post date: 3/1/22  Job Summary:  The Project Manager, Internal Communications position is in the Office of Strategy, Budget, and Performance’s Project Management Office (PMO). This position is responsible for (a) establishing an internal communications strategy that ensures employee communication and messaging is consistent and meets common brand and message standards, (b) collaborating with project managers in the PMO to assist or advise on a communication strategy for complex, enterprise-wide projects, (c) collaborating with departments when a communication need is identified, and (d) managing a graphic designer position. The PMO seeks to standardize the ways in which internal communication is facilitated to create a reliable process that garners employee trust and helps them manage change. This role is also a centralized resource, responsible for communicating to employees and targeted internal groups. Essential Responsibilities: Based on best practices, create content through a variety of mediums that reach the employee population. Translate the mission, vision and strategic objectives into stories that interest employees, encourage employee engagement, and increase employee satisfaction. Partner with Milwaukee County Staff focused on external communication to ensure message and timing of internal communications are aligned with external communications as appropriate. Provide support to PMO staff in developing and implementing a communication plan for audiences that are impacted by a project. Create standards and templates to be used by project managers and departments who request communication support. Track and report on project progress and support regularly. Develop a strategic communication plan and ensure it is implemented with fidelity. Identify communications gaps and opportunities and collaborate with others to develop solutions. Create standards for internal communication methods and ensure quality assurance systems are in place for demonstrating effectiveness. Develop standard processes, methodologies, tools, and trainings for internal communications in Milwaukee County. Monitor and evaluate industry trends and recommend actions to improve communications. Partner with the continuous improvement team to document process improvements. Serves as supervisor for graphic designer including supervision, development, and evaluation of work.   Minimum Requirements: Current residency within the State of Wisconsin A valid Wisconsin Driver’s license required and must be maintained throughout employment. Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Communications, Project Management, or related field At least two (2) or more years of related experience in managing communications and change management strategies in the private or public sector. Advanced knowledge of all related computer and software applications, such as word processing and spreadsheets. Routine shifts hours. Infrequent overtime, weekend, or shift rotation. Intermittent or cyclical work pressures with occasional exposure to high stress work environments. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: The ability to read, write and comprehend simple instructions, reports, short correspondence, and memos. The ability to speak effectively before both internal and/or external groups. The ability to read, analyze, and interpret safety rules, operating/maintenance instructions and procedure manuals, scientific/technical journals and procedures, government regulations, financial and legal documents. The ability to prepare and/or present written communications that pertain to controversial and complex topics.   Note: This Original Examination is open to qualified internal and external candidates of the State of Wisconsin.  The selection process will be job related and will consist of one or more of the following: education and experience evaluation; written, oral, or performance tests, or other assessment methods
