Job Description
Job Title: DISPATCHER/DRIVER SUPERVISOR
SUMMARY
Initiate and coordinate the movement of freight through interaction with drivers, other company personnel and customers, ensuring that the most cost-effective routes and methods are used while fulfilling customer requests satisfactorily. Assist in the attainment of Department budgetary guidelines.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.
Schedule customer orders ensuring safe and efficient utilization of equipment and providing superior customer service.
Assign loads to available drivers safely and fairly, providing full instructions of all pertinent information.
Accurately input all load information into the computer system.
Build a schedule for a week in advance so we can maximize the drivers time.
Plan and organize all available loads, so we can understand where our capacity is.
Maintain up-to-date lists of equipment location and availability.
Remain familiar with customer requirements and procedures in order to provide optimum customer service.
Ensure that all required paperwork and billing information is obtained from customers and drivers. Assist clerical staff with paperwork processing as needed.
Maintain positive relations with customers through timely notification of driver problems and appropriate resolution of any customer complaints.
Review driver paperwork and ensure proper processing of dray activity and other miscellaneous pay.
Coordinate with customers and steamship lines to resolve booking and equipment availability issues.
Contact vendors to arrange for equipment repairs as needed.
Provide assistance to terminal manger and other departments as needed
Participate in on call rotation.
Perform other duties as needed or assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervise drivers on a daily basis keeping management aware of driver performance and customer comments through appropriate documentation.
QUALIFICATIONS

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS/EXPECTATIONS
24-hour accessibility by telephone. Participation in night and weekend duty rotation. Must possess valid driver’s license from state of residence.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Experience in the transportation industry, customer service, or public relations preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Thorough knowledge of Department of Transportation regulations and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively to customers or employees of organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, and percentages.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Pay: $41,000.00 - $43,000.00 per year
