Property Accountant

We are seeking a detail-driven professional to join our Property Accounting Department as a Property Accountant at our headquarters in Downers Grove, IL. This position will maintain financial records for a portfolio of company properties to ensure data integrity. Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Property Accounting: Maintain financial records for assigned portfolio of properties; including review and adjustment of straight-line rents for property leases; review and recording of expense and income accruals; and additional consolidated property close tasks as assigned.

Property Portfolio: Point of contact for Property Management, Asset Management, and Corporate Finance for assigned portfolio of properties.

Analyses: Reviews and adjusts direct recovery accounts; subsequent disbursements after month-end close; and monthly budget variances.

Real Estate Tax (RET) and Common Area Maintenance (CAM) Recovery: Reviews RET and CAM reconciliations for assigned portfolio of properties.

General Accounting: Prepares bank and balance sheet account reconciliations; reviews and approves property invoices in NexusPayables; records accruals for services provided in prior months; calculates and records accruals for utility and contract expenses; real estate tax expenses; and CAM expenses/recovery.

Qualified Professionals Will Possess:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent professional experience.
• 1 years’ experience, preferably in commercial real estate.
• Intermediate skills in JD Edwards or a comparable general ledger software program.
• Intermediate skills in Nexus or a comparable accounts payable software program.
• Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office.
