Director of International Business Develpment (Department of Defense Contracting)
As the Director of International Business Development, you will be responsible for identifying, developing, and executing business opportunities in international markets to expand Global Ordnances’ presence and drive growth. This role requires a deep understanding of the defense industry, strong business acumen, and the ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders worldwide. You will communicate with executive leadership and program managers responsible for developing and supporting potential and existing contracts. Business development activities include but not limited to identifying and capturing international business opportunities in both Foreign Military Sales and Direct Commercial Sales while assisting with quotes, purchase orders, tracking deliverables, performing competitive pricing analysis, as well as identifying sources for Global Ordnance Holdings’ products and services.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Market Analysis and Strategy Development:
- Business Opportunity Identification and Pursuit:
- Identify and evaluate potential business opportunities in international defense markets.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess the feasibility and profitability of new ventures.
- Develop and maintain a robust pipeline of qualified leads and opportunities.
- Conduct due diligence on potential partners, customers, and acquisition targets.
Relationship Building and Stakeholder Management:
- Establish and nurture relationships with key stakeholders, including government officials, defense organizations, industry experts, and local partners.
- Represent the company at industry conferences, trade shows, and events to promote brand visibility and build strategic alliances.
- Collaborate with internal teams to develop and maintain strong relationships with existing international customers.
Proposal Development and Contract Negotiation:
- Lead the preparation and submission of proposals for defense contracts.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop competitive pricing strategies and technical solutions.
- Negotiate terms and conditions of contracts, including pricing, delivery schedules, and contractual obligations.
Market Expansion and Growth:
- Develop and execute market entry and expansion strategies for target international defense markets.
- Monitor market trends, competitive activities, and emerging technologies to identify potential areas for growth.
- Work closely with internal teams to ensure successful execution of projects and customer satisfaction.
- Conduct comprehensive market research to identify potential markets, customers, and competitors.
- Analyze political, economic, and regulatory factors affecting international defense markets.
- Develop strategic plans and recommendations for market entry, growth, and business development opportunities.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, International Relations, or a related field. A master's degree is preferred.
- ISO 9001:2015 training preferred.
- Functional in the use of Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Prior experience with Smart Sheets preferred.
- Proven experience in international business development in both FMS and DCS contracts, in the defense industry.
- Strong knowledge of international defense markets, including key players, regulations, and procurement processes.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with government officials, defense organizations, and industry stakeholders.
- Team player that operates well within a team as well as an individual with excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Self-starter and ready to work in a fast paced environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required.
Physical Demands & Abilities
- Regularly spend long hours sitting and using office equipment and computers
- Regularly move from sitting to standing positions effortlessly
- Extensive travel and must remain flexible to availability for the team – work hours.
Working Conditions
- Extensive travel and outdoor duties as well as an in-office environment. Occasional trade show work may be required.
