What are the responsibilities and job description for the Volunteer Support Manager position at Girl Scouts of Western Washington?
The Volunteer Support Manager manages volunteers in an assigned geographic area (Service Unit). The Volunteer Support Manager is the lead organizational representative for Service Unit teams and acts as their support, advocate, and policy contact within the organization. The position supports Service Unit and troop volunteers so that Girl Scouts participating in troops experience quality programming based on the Girl Scouts Leadership Experience (GSLE). This position upholds the tenants of work at Girl Scouts of Western Washington: collaboration cross teams, strong customer service, data driven decision making, and carrying forth the Girl Scouts mission. This is a regular exempt, full-time at the rate of $57,000.00/ annually with a requirement of being or becoming a Washington State resident.

Requirements
Essential Functions:
1.Supervise multiple Service Units in an assigned area including the oversight of the recruitment, appointment, and ongoing training of Service Unit volunteers within their assigned area. Strengthen volunteer support at the service unit level, using Girl Scout policies and procedures such as Safety Checkpoints and Risk Management procedures.
2.Work to ensure Girl Scouts delivers on its commitment to being an anti-racist and anti-oppressive organization through ongoing learning, review of practices/policies, and guiding Service Unit’s strategies to support this organizational priority.
3.Ensures youth participating in program within assigned geographic area experience quality program based on the Girl Scout Leadership Experience (GSLE).
4.Actively partner with Community Development Managers to help facilitate the formation of new troops and the placement of Girl Scouts and volunteers in programming opportunities.
5.Work collaboratively with Service Unit Managers, council programs and departments in the effective and efficient communication of opportunities for Girl Scouts, including, but not limited to, Camp, Product Sales, and membership program opportunities, as well as act as a liaison between program and volunteers.
6.Participates in membership retention activities, including regular volunteer meetings and phone calls, in order to achieves the assigned Girl Scout and volunteer member goal numbers.
7.Works with all new Troop leaders to ensure they complete the onboarding process and establish regularly scheduled check-ins with first time leaders.
8.Manage and resolve volunteer conflicts that arise within the assigned communities.

Qualifications
Education Required:
· Education or degree related to working with youth or equivalent experience
Experience:
· Minimum one-year experience successfully managing or supporting volunteers in direct or indirect program delivery
· Previous work experience utilizing conflict resolution skills
Preferred:
· Previous supervisory experience preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
· Demonstrated commitment to support efforts to enhance the cultural competence and global awareness of Girl Scouts, volunteers, and employees
· Demonstrated success working in cross-functional teams
· Bilingual and/or bicultural in languages and/or cultures with significant presence in Western Washington strongly preferred
· Excellent customer experience/service skills
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills necessary to be able to work with individuals at all levels and backgrounds
· Availability to work varied hours, including evenings and weekends
· Competent in working in a changing environment; flexible and adaptable, and skilled in dealing with ambiguity
· Ability to use technology to support regular one on ones with supervisor, manage day to day check-ins, and attend meetings throughout the council
· Ability to navigate technology programs and platforms independently to include Microsoft Office 365, Salesforce, and social media
· Ability and willingness to work remotely or from a home office
· Skilled in Outlook, Word and Excel, and familiarity with other database systems
· Demonstrated ability to multi-task, prioritizes deadlines, work independently, take initiative, highly organized, and maintain confidentiality in a fast paced and challenging work environment
· Valid Washington State driver’s license, vehicle in working condition, proof of insurance, or the ability to fulfill timely and extensive travel requirements across widespread regional geography
· Satisfactory results from criminal background search
· Willingness to maintain membership in Girl Scouts
Preferred:
· Knowledge of youth development strongly preferred
· Knowledge of Girl Scout program helpful, but not required
· Demonstrated experience successfully working with a variety of racial and ethnic groups strongly preferred
