Position:
The City of Sharonville is seeking an experienced Fire Inspector to join its Community Risk Reduction Division. Reporting to the Fire Marshal, this part-time role will primarily focus on leading a 3-4 year pre-plan project, with the potential for continued employment in routine fire inspections afterward. Responsibilities include conducting fire inspections, enforcing fire code compliance, assisting with fire cause and origin investigations, and educating the public and businesses on fire prevention. Candidates should have a strong background in fire inspections and pre-planning, excellent technical expertise, and outstanding communication and customer service skills. This position is scheduled Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with a maximum of 1,500 hours per calendar year. Join us to help enhance safety and preparedness in our community!
About the Sharonville Fire Department:
The City of Sharonville is conveniently located 15 miles north of downtown Cincinnati, situated off interstates 75 and 275 and nestled in both Hamilton and Butler Counties. Sharonville has approximately 13,500 residents and, due in large part to its large diverse workforce, a daytime population that exceeds 40,000. Sharonville Fire is an ISO, Class 2 Department serving the community from three fire stations and making over 4,500 responses annually. Crews are involved in fire prevention activities, including, fire inspections as well as public education. The Community Risk Reduction Division ensures the safety of the community by completing fire life safety inspections, plan reviews, safety systems testing, education and training. In 2021, the Bureau oversaw 1,300 life safety inspections to local businesses.
Requirements:
- Must possess a valid Fire Safety Inspector certification in the state of Ohio;
- At least two (2) years of responsible experience in the fire service; fire code enforcement experience preferred;
- A combination of education or professional experience and training may be considered.
Salary and Benefits:
The compensation package includes an hourly range of $24.00 - $28.00 commensurate with certification and experience.
