What does a Health and Safety Administrator do?
A Health and Safety Administrator is responsible for identifying hazardous workplace conditions. Takes samples and measurements of hazardous materials, and coordinates the removal of physical, biological and chemical hazards. Being a Health and Safety Administrator trains employees on safety policies, procedures and regulations. Ensures compliance with all applicable federal and state health and safety regulations and ensures necessary records are maintained and prepared according to established guidelines. Additionally, Health and Safety Administrator participates in Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) inspections, providing inspectors with appropriate documents and identifying safety measures. Typically requires a bachelor's degree in area of specialty. Typically reports to a supervisor. To be a Health and Safety Administrator typically requires 2 to 4 years of related experience. Gains exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. Occasionally directed in several aspects of the work.
Environmental, Health and Safety Administrator/Officer.
It is essential that you have a Health and Safety Qualification (preferably NCRQ or NEBOSH General Certificate) and we would ideally like you to also have an Environmental Qualification – however we can provide this if not.
The primary objective of the Health & Safety Administrator (HSA) program is to provide entry-level safety training for an administrator of a health and safety system who does not have a minimum of three years construction field experience or who is working towards three years of experience.
State plans are OSHA-approved job safety and health programs operated by individual states instead of federal OSHA.
State-run safety and health programs are required to be at least as effective as the federal OSHA program.
