12 Ways Working Moms Can Rebalance Work & Life

How to Successfully Walk the Work/Life Tightrope Without a Net

Always Remember You're a Pie

This isn’t a “you are what you eat” judgment on last night’s cheesecake. But let’s look at the relative sizes of slices of your life. In a visual carving of your day, would the most valued pieces be generous servings or fodder for a restricted diet?

Your pie will include Work, Connection, Physical, Mental and Emotional components. A family picnic fills slices of both Connection and Emotional (with a tad of Mental if your daughter brings the boyfriend). A client meeting may similarly fill in Connection as well as supply Mental exercise.

Work gets a hefty 40-hour slice off the top. So you always need to mentally visualize how you can balance out the rest of the week and what that particular pie will look like.
