#1 Mom Job: Housekeeper

Annual salary: $20,331

Hourly pay: $9.77
Stay-at-home moms: 14.8 hours a week
Working moms: 7.9 hours a week

Topping the list of “mom jobs” for the second year in a row is housekeeper.

This is the nitty gritty. The down and dirty. The quintessential  “in the trenches” part of motherhood that’s easy to take for granted. Kids (and sometimes partners) have a tendency to think the vacuumed carpet, sparkling toilet bowls and gleaming kitchen counters get and stay that way via some sort of magic. As if the Lysol gnomes come out and make everything habitable at the end of every day.

But our survey proves this is no spell, it’s old-fashioned elbow grease on the part of rubber-gloved mothers everywhere.
