Job Description for Medical Device Engineering Director
Medical Device Engineering Director directs the analysis and development of medical devices, equipment, or components to meet technical and functional specifications and standards. Provides technical direction to team members in designing, developing, and testing medical devices or components. Being a Medical Device Engineering Director establishes prototype testing guidelines to evaluate medical device performance, reliability, and safety and reviews data and analysis to develop improvements. Develops operational procedures and policies to ensure products meet regulatory, safety, and quality requirements and standards. Additionally, Medical Device Engineering Director oversees engineering projects through their entire lifecycle, including cost and requirement analysis, scheduling, and production. Manages departmental budgets and identifies cost-saving opportunities to optimize business performance and drive profitability. May require a master's degree. Typically reports to senior management. The Medical Device Engineering Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure.
