About Us:

Wildwood Ventures is a pre-seed and seed venture fund and studio based in Denver, Colorado. Wildwood invests in – and helps to build – human-focused technology companies that enable healthy and active lifestyles. Wildwood launched in May 2023 with VF Corporation (The North Face, Vans, et. al.) as its anchor limited partner. The Wildwood portfolio includes 6 companies (and counting!) in the wellness and outdoors spaces.  Wildwood’s B2C and B2B investments help people explore and move, improve their health, train to win, connect with others, and focus their mind and spirit. 

Position Summary:

The Venture Fellow will serve as an important, part-time teammate contributing to Wildwood’s sourcing and diligence efforts, portfolio company support, and investor relations. By operating as a “Jack/Jill of all trades” the position will offer exposure and experiences across early stage venture investing and venture building.  While Wildwood will consider applicants with greater experience, the role is ideally suited for individuals who are about to begin their MBA programs, who are currently pursuing their MBA, or who have recently earned their MBA and wish to gain on-the-job experience in venture building and investing.

Responsibilities:

• Sourcing: The Venture Fellow is encouraged to leverage and build their networks to bring in talented early-stage founders building tech companies in the outdoor and wellness ecosystems. 
• Diligence: The Venture Fellow’s responsibilities will include helping with top of funnel operations. Support will include reviewing pitch decks, communicating with founders about Wildwood’s studio model and process, and shadowing founder pitches and Investment Committee meetings.
• Portfolio Company Support: Depending on the Venture Fellow’s “builder” skill sets, the Fellow may contribute to projects within Wildwood’s portfolio companies.  
• Investor Relations: The Venture Fellow will help with ongoing investor relations work, including identifying possible investors and engaging with current ones.
• Special Projects: As opportunities arise for Wildwood to support the venture ecosystem in Colorado and in our thesis areas, the Venture Fellow will be leaned on for project management support, networking, and other responsibilities to be determined.

Qualifications:

• Passion for some combination of: early stage venture investing, early stage venture building, and enabling more healthy and active lifestyles.
• Strong communication skills, with a genuine love for relating to people.
• Team player with “can do” attitude and eagerness to collaborate, with a willingness to work independently if schedules require. 
• Flexible skill set to stretch across a range of activities, and willingness to learn in new arenas. 
• 5 years of experience or coursework supporting the responsibilities above, such as: research, venture, startups, finance, and project management. (Applicants encouraged even without meeting every skill qualification).
• Ability to commit 10-20 hours per week to the Venture Fellow position. This can be done remotely, but proximity to Denver is a plus.
