Transportation Director directs, develops, and implements overall operations of a transportation network including safety, compliance, equipment, and staff. Develops and directs operational policies and procedures to ensure safety and efficiency in all transportation activities. Being a Transportation Director monitors transportation costs, service level agreements, and performance metrics to identify and resolve problems and achieve efficiencies. Partners with internal and external stakeholders to forecast and meet capacity needs. Additionally, Transportation Director oversees the acquisition and oversight of transportation providers. Requires a bachelor's degree in logistics, transportation, supply chain management, or equivalent. Typically reports to top management. The Transportation Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Our Transportation Systems Planning Director position develops, directs, and manages multimodal transportation plans, studies, research activities, and investment planning for the Long-Range Planning unit in the Metro District Office of Planning, Program Management and Transit. This position also participates in an advisory capacity in regional, state, and federal planning processes.

Here are the minimum qualifications:
Three (3) years of advanced professional planning experience that involves federal, state, regional, and/or project level planning (e.g., Planner Senior State (10L) level or higher) and demonstrates the following:

An advanced degree is not required. A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Planning, Geography, Urban Studies, Sociology, Political Science substitutes for six months of advanced professional experience.
