Transportation Director jobs in Arizona
Transportation Director directs, develops, and implements overall operations of a transportation network including safety, compliance, equipment, and staff. Develops and directs operational policies and procedures to ensure safety and efficiency in all transportation activities. Being a Transportation Director monitors transportation costs, service level agreements, and performance metrics to identify and resolve problems and achieve efficiencies. Partners with internal and external stakeholders to forecast and meet capacity needs. Additionally, Transportation Director oversees the acquisition and oversight of transportation providers. Requires a bachelor's degree in logistics, transportation, supply chain management, or equivalent. Typically reports to top management. The Transportation Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Transportation Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments. - Knowledge of applicable Federal, state, county, and city statutes, rules, policies, and procedures.
- Knowledge of applicable Peoria Unified School District and departmental policies and procedures.
- Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relations with co-workers, vendors, students, parents, the general public and others having business with the school district.
- Must possess outstanding oral, written, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Experience in initiating, facilitating and implementing short and long-range goals and planning.
- Strong knowledge of state and federal legal requirements related to pupil transportation.
- Prefer knowledge of technical aspects of, specifications and operation of school busses and support vehicles.
- A commitment to work toward innovative responses to the transportation needs of the district.
- Prefers knowledge of Edulog, TOM, SEON, and other transportation related software.
- Prefer knowledge of alternative fuel technology.
- Experience in the development of policy, procedures, and communications which foster a positive, safe, and productive school climate.
- Skill in operating a personal computer utilizing a variety of software applications.
- A clear commitment to the highest ethical principles; ability to serve as a role model for leadership in the District and community.
- Ability to work flexible hours.
