Privacy Manager/Legal Liaison

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Privacy Manager/Legal Liaison to join our privacy team and play a key role in safeguarding our customers' privacy rights and ensuring compliance with global data protection laws and regulations.

Position Overview:

The Privacy Manager/Legal Liaison will be responsible for providing guidance on privacy matters to support our global operations. Our goals are big ones and require teammates who feel comfortable stepping into complex problems that lack easy by the book solutions and finding practical paths forward. When those paths are found and built, they create meaningful impacts for Asurion and for the individuals our businesses ultimately serve.

Our ideal candidate will not only have a deep understanding of data protection laws, regulations, and best practices, but will also thrive in a collaborative environment with cross-functional teams as they work to develop and implement a gold-standard privacy program.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide guidance and support on a wide range of privacy and data protection issues, particularly those that apply to Asurion business in North America, Europe, APEC, and LATAM.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including product development, marketing, legal and security teams, to build a resilient, scalable privacy program that works for a fast-growing, innovative technology company.
• Guide Product and Development teams to incorporate privacy by design principles.
• Conduct privacy impact assessments (PIA) and data protection impact assessments (DPIA) and advise on risk mitigation strategies.
• Review and/or draft privacy and security agreements, including vendor and customer contracts (such as DPAs and related documents).
• Develop and maintain comprehensive privacy notices, policies, procedures, and training programs to ensure company-wide compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
• Stay current with evolving privacy legislation and trends and assess their impact on the company's operations.

Qualifications:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
• 3 years experience in a law firm or in-house corporate department, with familiarity with global privacy and security regulations (such as GDPR, CCPA, LGPD, etc).
• Creative and solution oriented, with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Tech-savvy with a willingness to learn more.
• Must at least have a strong working knowledge of Microsoft products Outlook, Word, Teams, Excel, Adobe products, Zoom and be a quick learner with GRC tools.
• Comfortable with taking initiative and leading projects.
• Excellent judgment and analytical skills with the ability to strategically assess and mitigate risk, while achieving business goals.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and influencing skills; ability to simplify complex legal requirements into simple, easy-to-understand terms without relying on legal and technical jargon.
• Collaborative team player who subscribes to the philosophy that there is no I in team; a can-do attitude, with a willingness to roll up your sleeves to get the job done; dedicated worker who is responsive and provides timely advice.
• High integrity and ethical standards are non-negotiable.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP) or other relevant certifications.
• Experience working in a global company with a diverse and multicultural workforce.
• Familiarity with emerging technologies and their implications for privacy and data protection.
