The Patient Services Associates' (PSA) main responsibility is to see that the needs of a patient are met quickly and compliantly with patient satisfaction. The PSA exhibits excellent customer service during the check-in and check-out process. Greet each patient and visitor courteously and respectfully at all times. The PSA answers incoming telephone calls in a professional manner, screens calls, takes messages, and/or directs calls to the appropriate individual or department, respond to patient calls and messages within policy guidelines. The PSA works with new patients to establish care and complete the registration process, updates registration forms for all patients, and verify all applicable signatures are obtained. The PSA schedules new and follow-up appointments; facilitates patient check-in, including insurance verification, input of patient information, establishment of payment terms including payment plans, and collection of co-payments, patient balances, and/or arrangement of verified future payments.
The PSA is responsible for medical records management; keeping electronic charts organized, scanning documents for placement in EMR, and requesting or releasing of medical documents with obtained consent; provide information about the online Patient Portal and actively promote and register patients. Offer patients guidance, training, and assistance with signing up if requested.
