  • DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: The primary responsibility of this position is to supervise the opening and closing of tables and to supervise and manage the activities of the blackjack dealers. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

    • Is responsible for assisting in the management and performance of the blackjack department staff including hiring, scheduling, performance reviews, disciplinary actions, payroll activities and training and development activities.
    • Ensures that blackjack department staff are providing exceptional guest services to assist in guest relations, profitability of the blackjack department and the overall profitability of the Lake of the Torches Resort Casino.
    • Assists in the monitoring of internal operations including daily operations, scheduling and management of policies and procedures.
    • Directly supervises employees and maintains control of blackjack tables in assigned area.
    • Is responsible for supervising the opening and closing of tables and the reconciliation and tracking of all shoes and cards.
    • Generates reports and documents discrepancies related to opening and closing of tables and the reconciliation and tracking of shoes and cards for review and resolution by the Blackjack Manager.
    • May assist in the performance of blackjack dealer activities to ensure guest expectations and blackjack department operations are performed in a timely and efficient manner.
    • Assists the Pit Administrator and Blackjack Manager with player tracking activities.
    • Works closely with the Blackjack Manager and the Pit Administrators to analyze table performance and implements enhancements to maximize revenues.
    • May assist the Blackjack Manager in dealer training activities.
    • Directs blackjack staff in maintaining appearance and cleanliness of tables and table games area.
    • Is responsible for participating in the development and adherence to the blackjack department budget include staff and equipment forecasting.
    • Responsible for recommending and maintaining blackjack department objectives, standards and policies and procedures for review by the Blackjack Manager.
    • Resolves associate interdepartmental or guest disputes in accordance with established policies and procedures.
    • In the absence of the Pit Administrator, may assume Pit Administrator responsibilities as appropriate.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Position Relationships

    Internal: Occasional contact with associates at all levels within all departments of the organization.

    External: Continual contact with guests and visitors.

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for the direct supervision of approximately thirty blackjack department associates.

    SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Operates independently with supervision received from the Pit Administrator or Blackjack Manager.

    EDUCATION: A High School education or equivalent is required.

    EXPERIENCE: A minimum of one year supervisory experience in a table games environment with an emphasis in a customer focused environment is required. A minimum of six months dealer experience is required.

    SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS: Must possess excellent interpersonal, communication, problem solving and people management skills. Must be familiar with PC’s and related software, possess basic math and cash handling skills and have a thorough knowledge of table gaming operations. Must be able to manage and maintain confidential and sensitive information with diplomacy and tact. Must maintain a professional demeanor in stressful situations as necessary

    Working Environment

    • Work Conditions: The majority of position responsibilities are performed on the gaming floor with exposure to differentials in temperature.
    • Exposure to Hazards: May be exposed to situations where spills, wet floors or guest behaviors may create undesirable conditions.
    • Physical Requirements: Must be able to walk, sit, stand, bend or lift for extended periods of time.

    OTHER: Must be able to work irregular hours, weekends, holidays and be available for call in to work on short notice. Must attend all mandatory meetings and participate in departmental training and development sessions.
