    Job DetailsJob Summary:

    Performs advanced (senior-level) work administering the infrastructure (both physical and cloud based) for the Information Technology department. Works under minimal supervision, with much latitude for initiative and independent judgment. Position is based in the greater Austin area and occasional travel to Apollo’s headquarters in Round Rock to provide on-site logistics will be required.

    Responsibilities/Tasks:

    • Oversees and provide guidance in troubleshooting and solving complex problems related to firewalls, Microsoft systems, linux, and cloud resources. Assists with system software and hardware incident and problem calls, and in the processing of service requests and tasks.
    • Coordinates, plans, and schedules the installation of or training for new or revised systems and define business process requirements.
    • Defines and manages the roles and access privileges of individual network entities’ users and devices within a variety of applications to prevent unauthorized access.
    • Provides recommendations, and instructions for proposed system implementations; formulate logical descriptions of problems; and devise and implement optimum solutions.
    • Coordinates and maintains the systems environment's functionality, implements technology solutions, develops server upgrade plans and procedures, and install operating systems.
    • Develops, analyzes, and maintains system design procedures, test procedures, and quality standards.
    • Provides technical expertise and guidance regarding questions related to the department.
    • Identifies areas of needed change and makes recommendations to improve operations.
    • Prepares management and productivity reports
    • Performs related work as assigned.

    Work Activities:

    • Supports Apollo’s internally used hardware and software.
    • Applies cybersecurity knowledge to ensure compliance with Apollo’s cybersecurity standards to systems.
    • Monitors compliance with policies and procedures and takes corrective action as necessary.

    Required Skills:

    • Knowledge of Microsoft and network systems administration; computer hardware and software configuration and troubleshooting; Linux operating systems; and cloud administration.
    • Skill in using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
    • Ability to recognize, analyze, and resolve complex technical issues; to analyze systems and procedures; to use network management, administration, and other system administration tools; and to communicate effectively.
    • Ability to write and revise standards and procedures, and to occasionally oversee and/or supervise the work of others.

    Preferred Skills:

    • Ability to identify complex security exploits, threats, and vulnerabilities, and gauge risk.
    • Familiarity with VPN technologies, IPSec, and SSL.
    • Experience with Fortinet firewalls and switches.
    • Knowledge of Microsoft Entra, Windows 2012 – 2022, and Intune.
    • RHEL and Ubuntu experience.
    • Familiarity with MacOS. Knowledge of database basics.
    • General scripting knowledge.
    • Willing to learn new skills and seek assistance when necessary.

    Education/Certifications:

    • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in a field relevant to IT management is preferred. Experience and education may be substituted for one another.
    • Security , Network , or ITIL certifications preferred.
