SAFETY MANAGER plans and manages the general health, safety, and loss control policies and procedures of the organization. Monitors and evaluates the workplace to ensure compliance with governmental regulatory agencies. Being a SAFETY MANAGER designs and directs safety training programs to reduce accidents, occupational illnesses, and exposure to long-term health hazards. Develops worker plans and policies for new employee safety orientation including skill training, emergency preparedness, proper job instruction, hazardous material disposal procedures, and the use of protective equipment. Additionally, SAFETY MANAGER studies, identifies, and reports causes of past accidents and develops recommendations and follow-up to prevent accident recurrences. Requires a bachelor's degree of occupational safety and health or related degree. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The SAFETY MANAGER manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Job Description: Site Safety Manager
Atticus Safety Consulting, LLC, a leading provider of occupational safety consulting services, is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Safety Consultant to join our team in Charleston, South Carolina. As a Safety Consultant, you will play a vital role in ensuring the implementation and maintenance of effective safety measures within our client projects.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct safety meetings, audits, and inspections to ensure compliance, evaluate performance, identify corrective actions, and implement follow-up assessments.
- Plan, implement, and conduct safety training programs to educate employees and contractors on best practices and safety protocols.
- Provide guidance on safety-related matters to the project management team, ensuring project sites fulfill industry, local, state, and federal guidelines.
- Ensure that all work is performed in accordance with approved manuals, internal policies and procedures, and contract documents.
- Provide technical support to project managers, assisting with safety-related queries, assessments, and recommendations.
- Report the status of projects to the project team and client, providing regular updates and addressing any safety concerns or issues.
- Participate in team meetings and maintain regular on-site project presence to monitor safety practices and address potential hazards.
**Qualifications:**
-A previous experience in safety/occupational management, 5 years experience preferred.
-OSHA 500 certification and 5 years experience
-Bachelors in Safety and 5 years experience.
-Majority of experience in site development or similar work.
-CHST and 4 years
-Preferred but not required to have EM 385 experience
**Contract Details:**
- This position is a 3-5 month contract with a possible permanent position after.
- The expected work schedule is 40 hours per week, with flexibility.
- The job location is Charleston, South Carolina.
