Retail Tire Service Manager manages the service staff to effectively meet customer requirements and minimize tire service related expenses. Assigns jobs within the service center and dispatches road and fleet service according to customer requests or established requirements. Being a Retail Tire Service Manager makes recommendations for hiring, firing and disciplining of service techs. Trains service technicians and conducts new hire orientation; schedules other training as required. Additionally, Retail Tire Service Manager ensures that company policies are being followed with regard to safety, DOT and established operating procedures. May require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a store manager. The Retail Tire Service Manager supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. To be a Retail Tire Service Manager typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor.     The responsibility of the Store Manager is to directly supervise and coordinate all employees in the retail store; perform management functions such as purchasing, budgeting, accounting, and personnel work; execute company plans, strategies, and priorities. Other duties include, but are not limited to:


    Personnel Management:

    • Hire, train, and orient new hires
    • Evaluate employees; determine promotions, transfers, and disciplinary actions
    • Conduct store meetings to implement and review programs

    Purchasing, Budgeting, and Accounting:

    • Review inventory and sales records to prepare reports
    • Prepare annual budgets, sales objectives, marketing plans, and special promotions or events; monitor adherence to targets
    • Conduct inventory and reorder when needed

    Obtain Orders

    • Operate company’s point of sale system to create work orders and invoice customers in a timely and efficient manner
    • Operate company’s flat-rate computer system
    • Determine extension of credit and follow up on past-due accounts

    Customer service:

    • Greet customers and ascertain customer needs/desires
    • Address and resolve customer inquiries and complaints

    Other:

    • Maintain building, equipment, and vehicles in good condition
    • Enforce store policies and procedures
    • Execute company plans, strategies, and priorities
    • Build relationships within the local community
    • Meet the requirements outlined in the company’s evaluation form

    Requirements

    • Frequent lifting over 20 pounds from ground to chest high.
    • Squatting, bending, and twisting
    • Standing for extended periods of time.
    • Sense of sound (Ringing telephones, alarms, horns and motorized equipment)
    • Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) (Safety Glasses, gloves, footwear)
    • Work in environment that is not climate controlled. Temperatures range from extremely hot to extremely cold, depending on the season.

    Skills & Abilities:

    • High school graduate or general education degree (GED); college degree preferred
    • 2-4 years related experience

    Certifications/Licenses:

    • Valid driver’s license; driving record must meet company’s insurance requirements
    • Ongoing training is required per company’s standards
    • Meet Best-One 5-Star Training Requirements annually:

    Computer:

    • Must be competent in MS Word, Excel, and point of sale software
    • Ability to learn and operate point of sale system to create work orders and invoice customers in a timely and efficient manner
    • Ability to operate a flat-rate computer system (Mitchell, All-Data, or equivalent) and to learn the company’s flat-rate computer system
