Summary:

New Hampshire Public Radio is seeking a Controller to be a key member of the finance team responsible for overseeing the accounting operations, financial reporting, and internal controls of the station. This role ensures the accuracy and integrity of financial information, compliance with relevant regulations, and supports strategic financial planning and analysis. This is a full-time, hybrid eligible role based in Concord NH, reporting to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO).

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Management:

• Oversee all accounting operations including Billing, Accounts Receivable (A/R), Accounts Payable (A/P), General Ledger (GL), Cost Accounting, Grant Tracking, Revenue Recognition and all bank reconciliations.
• Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes.
• Maintain and enforce a documented system of accounting policies and procedures.

Accounts Payable:

Manage the accounts payable function to ensure timely and accurate processing of vendor invoices, expense reports, and payment transactions. Review and verify invoices and check requests.

Financial Reporting:

• Prepare and publish timely and accurate financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
• Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations.

• Manage the preparation of the annual budget and financial forecasts.
• Report variances and provide financial analysis to support decision-making.

Internal Controls:

• Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
• Monitor and analyze accounting data to ensure the accuracy of financial reporting.
• Coordinate and complete annual audits.

Strategic Planning:

• Provide strategic recommendations to the CFO and members of the executive team.
• Assist in financial planning and analysis for long-term financial goals.
• Support fundraising activities and donor reporting requirements.

Team Leadership:

• Lead and mentor budget managers, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment.
• Oversee and manage the performance of the accounting staff, including training and development.
• Assist CFO in leading organizational financial improvement projects.

Required Experience/Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of progressive accounting experience with at least 3 years in a supervisory role.

• Strong knowledge of GAAP and regulatory requirements.
• Proficiency with accounting software and advanced MS Excel skills.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across departments.

Preferred Experience/Qualifications

CPA or CMA designation preferred.

Experience in non-profit or public media accounting is highly desirable.

Compensation & Benefits: 

This is a full-time exempt position with a salary range of $90-$115K annually, based on the number of years of experience.
