OBJECTIVE / PURPOSE
Curriculum Editor/Proofreader performs the role of editing, proofing, and writing support of curriculum product materials, including marketing, advertisement, instructional materials, and ancillary product publications. This position involves working closely with product and marketing managers, designers, product developers, and outside development partners.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND FUNCTIONS

Work with designers to update and prepare files for outside printers and the company print shop. Understand needs of each printer and communicate those needs to designers.

Serve as point of contact with the production department, printers, and designers to ensure process is clear and deadlines are met.

Review proofs to ensure they are accurate and meet specifications.

Review print samples and approve books to be received into inventory.

Update and maintain accurate correction logs. Create update sets when needed.

Keep files up to date with editing and design changes. Track all file updates and print runs.

Maintain accurate spec sheets for all titles.

Work with digital team to update and maintain online versions of content.

Work with marketing team to update and print marketing materials.

Perform other duties as required.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Education: Bachelors' degree in English or related subject or equivalent work experience in editing or other related field.
Experience: Minimum of two years related editorial experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Specialized Training/Skills:

Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.

Strong editing and grammar skills. Knowledge of Chicago style.

Proficiency in Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Acrobat Pro, and Microsoft Office.

Experience in the printing or publishing industry.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
