Mixes paints and other solutions and monitors drying to ensure desired results. Being a Production Painter completes finishing with baking, polishing or other materials. Follows all required safety procedures. Additionally, Production Painter may paint items by hand as needed. Requires a high school diploma. Typically reports to supervisor/manager. May require an apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty. The Production Painter possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. Duties:
- Prepare surfaces for painting by cleaning, sanding, and applying primer
- Measure and mix specified quantities of substances to create coatings, paints, or sprays
- Operate, clean, and maintain spray application production equipment
- Apply adhesive, caulking, sealants, or coatings
- Ensure quality and consistency in workmanship
- Transfer items to/from conveyor to storage area by hand, hoist, fork truck, crane, or hydraulic boom
- Follow safety guidelines and maintain a clean work environment
Requirements:
- Vocational school training or previous experience as a Painter or in a similar role
- Knowledge of different painting techniques and tools
- Ability to use power tools, hand tools, and mechanical knowledge
- Familiarity with forklift operation is a plus
- Strong attention to detail and quality craftsmanship
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team
