Product Design Manager manages and coordinates design, development, and enhancement of new and existing products/product lines. Evaluates and ensures design feasibility and design optimization. Being a Product Design Manager ensures team meets project milestones and completes projects within established timeline. Evaluates issues, provides resolution, and communicates to management. Additionally, Product Design Manager requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Product Design Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Product Design Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required. This highly skilled team of professionals offers a full range of bridge services from scoping, planning and preliminary engineering through final design, for small to large scale bridges.
Responsibilities- Ensure the success of the projects under his/her management.
- Handle all aspects for a project.
- Provide leadership and mentoring to individuals.
- Plan, organize, and supervise the work and workload of project staff.
- Monitor project costs to ensure that project is delivered within budget, fulfills customer expectations for schedule and quality, and/or aligns with the company strategic objectives.
- Bachelor's Degree in Structural Engineering.
- Minimum of 8 years' experience of AASHTO compliant bridge design/management experience.
- Must be a licensed Professional Engineer in VT or be able to be licensed in VT.
- Ability to lead multi-discipline bridge projects for public and private sector clients.
- An established business network with VTrans and Municipal clients and contractors.
- Prior experience with the Federal-Aid project delivery process.
- Proven ability to manage bridge projects and lead multi-disciplinary teams meeting schedule, budget and quality.
- Proven ability to identify, pursue, and win work.
- Ability to work remotely with team members in other offices.
- Familiarity with construction engineering, AREMA based rail bridge design, and/or design build procurement a plus.
